PGHS celebrates the 10th anniversary of its nursery opening!
Palmers Green High School (PGHS) celebrated the 10th anniversary of its pre-school Nursery being at Wellington Road by inviting back the girls who attended when it first opened in April 2008. The girls, who are now in Years 8 and 9 at PGHS, joined the Nursery when they were 3 and 4 years old.
The Nursery first opened under the name of ‘The Alice Nursery’ to commemorate the School’s founder, Miss Alice Hum. It has since changed its name to Palmers Green High School Nursery to recognise the fact that it is an integral part of the education provided by the School.
Girls and their parents shared some of their memories of the Nursery on this special occasion:
“I was lucky enough to be at The Alice Nursery when it moved to Wellington Road. Walking into the new premises was so exciting – full of colour, light and space which my friends and I grew to love. Looking back, it was the perfect setting in which to begin my academic journey. Ten years later, I am now in Year 9 and beginning the preparations for my GCSEs. While the years seem to have flown by, I am proud to say I still share my days at PGHS with my friends who I started out with at Alice Nursery.” Grace Sinfield, Year 9.
“I was a very shy girl in the Nursery but the staff made me feel so welcome and I am still friends with girls who I met in the Nursery.” Sophie Miller, Year 10 (Head Girl).
“PGHS is incredible, everyone is so kind. It’s like a big family.” Rhiannon McDermott, Year 8.
“Being part of PGHS will always be something that I will be proud of. Growing up in this school has shaped me into the girl I am today.” Emilia Trim-Nancarrow, Year 9.
"Palmers Green High School builds independent young women to be the leaders of tomorrow with an amazing work ethic. Our daughter started at the Nursery ten years ago and we are delighted that she has now been appointed Head Girl." Mr Miller (Parent)
“The positive learning environment of Alice Nursery along with the outstanding skills of the staff provided a firm foundation of knowledge for my daughters. This gave them the ability to transition into Reception with confidence and ease.” Mrs Rashid (Parent)
“Happy Birthday PGHS Nursery. Our daughter Emilia was lucky to be in the first group of girls to go to the new nursery. She had a lovely time and we found the staff to be so caring, creative and committed to the early development and education of Emilia and her class mates. This continued into the Prep School and now into the Secondary School”.
