Acclaimed children’s author and illustrator, Jane Ray, visits PGHS

Acclaimed children’s author and illustrator, Jane Ray, visited PGHS on Monday 14th June. She spent an hour with Years 3, 4 & 5 as well as an hour with Years 1 & 2. She talked to the pupils about her books and illustrations and how she started out in her career. She showed them some of her original artwork, sketchbooks and rough drafts and spoke about the materials she used to produce her illustrations. She read to the girls and then worked with them to produce a ‘made- up’, mythical creature of their own. The girls had a wonderful time and certainly seemed inspired by Jane’s work. They were all given the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of one of Jane’s books. The school library has copies of many of the books that Jane talked about and the girls are welcome to borrow these before the end of term.’ You can also visit Jane’s website at http://www.janeray.com/schools/
