We were delighted to welcome back one of our past pupils, Imani Shola, to talk to the Seniors about her debut book, Heart Shards and Lip Balm. Her book is a collection of self-care poetry and affirmative notes written for young women and young people across Britain in light of recent tragedies and the epidemic of depression and low self-esteem among millennials.
Imani was interviewed by the Head Girls in a ‘meet the author’ session where she talked to all the Senior girls about what she had done since she left PGHS and what inspired her to write her book, which was then followed by book signing in the library.
At just 20, Imani already has numerous extraordinary achievements to her name: with 12 A*s at GCSE and 3A*s at A-Level and a former Commended UK Foyle Young Poet of the Year. Imani Shola, now a University of Cambridge student and vlogger, was invited onto BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour as a result of her extraordinary achievements and her rarity as a woman of Caribbean descent at Cambridge.
