Congratulations to Tessa in Year 10 who is one of the ten pupils to win the Simon Powell Poetry Prize. It was a very strong field this year, with hundreds of great entries. Here’s what judge Daljit Nagra said about her poem:
” A passionate address in plain language that speaks against prejudice. The style remains complex and clear-sighted and the rhetorical style is wonderfully achieved.”
As part of the prize Tessa will receive a collection of signed books from the Poetry Live poets, as well as an invitation to read at one of next year’s Poetry Live events. The other section of the prize is to attend a poetry workshop in July hosted by poets Daljit Nagra and Imtiaz Dharker.
