PGHS girls attend Enfield Children’s Book Award Shortlisting Day

1st August 2020

Six members from two of our school book clubs (from Years 5, 6 and 7) attended a shortlisting day at Southgate Public Library along with seven other local schools.  The aim of the day was to come up with a shortlist of six books from a long list picked by local school children. Palmers Green High school pupils from the school book clubs have been busy reading, reviewing and discussing books from the list throughout this term.  We decided to put forward one of our school favourites which was ‘Listening for Lucca’ by Suzanne Lafleur.  After a fun day presenting our views and taking part in a variety of book related games and activities we were happy to see our choice of book put onto the shortlist.  In the New Year, school children throughout Enfield in Years 5, 6 and 7, will be invited to vote for their favourite book with the overall winner being announced at a Grand Finale event at the Millfield Theatre in March.
