Pupils download rare editions of Shakespeare's plays from interactive wallpaper

1st August 2020

Vodafone and the British Library recently partnered in an exciting initiative to produce rolls of interactive ‘digital library’ wallpaper to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.

The digital library provides new, unprecedented access to free digital copies of Shakespeare’s quartos by allowing people to simply scan the QR codes printed on 400-year-old versions of plays including Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hamlet. These original works can be downloaded for free.

These rolls of wallpaper toured around the UK and a competition was then promoted via Twitter giving schools, libraries and community centres the chance to win a roll of this special wallpaper. We are excited to announce that Mrs Conlon, the School Librarian entered and won a roll for PGHS!

The senior girls will be given the opportunity to scan the codes during their English lessons, either using their own phones or with a tablet provided by their teachers.
