We’re delighted to have won a national award in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026. PGHS has been named ‘Independent 11-16 School of the Year for Academic Excellence 2026’.
Widely acknowledged as the most authoritative survey of the country’s top schools, the guide is published online today and available in a special print supplement in The Sunday Times on Sunday, December 7.
In 2025, the School’s overall percentage of GCSEs at grades 9-8 was a magnificent 48% and 9-7 a fantastic 71%, placing our pupils amongst the top performers in the country.
Interim Executive Head, Claire Robinson comments: “I’m pleased that The Sunday Times has once again recognised us in their Parent Power Guide, naming us ‘Independent 11-16 School of the Year for Academic Excellence 2026’. We’re so proud of our hard-working pupils and dedicated teachers, and this award is a reflection of their outstanding efforts. Our strong commitment to individual excellence in a nurturing environment is consistently demonstrated, and our young people not only achieve exceptionally well academically but are also prepared for the wider world once they leave us.
Recognised as the definitive ranking of the UK’s top primary and secondary state and independent schools, the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide remains an essential resource for parents seeking the very best in education for their children.
The guide includes a fully searchable national database of over 2,000 schools by name, local authority, town and postcode. As well as an assessment of all academic results on a school-by-school basis, Parent Power enables parents to compare the performance of a given school with other schools in the same town, local authority or nationally.
