Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Participants Head South

8th July 2025

Our silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants spent three days walking through the South Downs for their Silver DofE Qualifying Expedition last weekend. They covered 15–16 km each day while carrying heavy packs, showing great resilience and teamwork throughout the journey.

Working effectively in their groups, they supported one another through the challenges of the expedition. They camped in the woods at Parkwood, where they prepared their own breakfasts and dinners. The hot weather posed a significant challenge, so the teams made the smart decision to set off early—6am on Saturday and 5am on Sunday—to avoid the worst of the heat.

Their routes included sections of the beautiful South Downs Way, offering stunning panoramic views.

A huge thank you to East Coast Outdoors CIC for leading and supporting this memorable expedition.
