Kindertransport Author Visits Year 10 Pupils

The English Department were delighted to welcome back renowned local playwright, Diane Samuels, to share personal insights on her play ‘Kindertransport’ which the Year 10 class are studying this half term as part of their Literature GCSE.
The session was informative and warmly invitational as Diane encouraged the girls to ask questions and join in a live reading and staging of the opening scene. The girls enthused about how the talk helped them to understand the characters in more depth as well as the levels of reality – a concept quite unique in Samuels’ work which explores the collective consciousness and the protagonist’s own psyche.
