Assembly on Period Poverty and Menstrual Health

16th September 2025

On Tuesday 16 September, Anne Nicholls visited PGHS and talked to pupils from Year 5 to 11 about her charity work around period poverty and menstrual health. A retired teacher that grew up in Kenya, Anne now dedicates her time to working with schools and young women in Kenya, educating them about their menstrual, sexual and reproductive health and the importance of  attending school through the whole month if they want to follow their dreams and reach their full potential. She talked to our pupils about how we can support her work, either through fundraising or donations of reusable pads, knickers or fabric for the pupils to make their own pads.

Anne also met Year 9 pupils during breaktime and talked to them about the variety of eco-friendly period products that are now available to them in the market place. PGHS are keen to
support Anne in her important work over the coming year and if you are interested in finding out more about her charity you can find all her details via her Instagram page at @thisgirlcan.period
