Our Approach to SEND

We believe that a diagnosis or learning difference should never be a barrier to success. Our SEND provision is integrated into every aspect of school life, ensuring that girls with additional needs feel confident, capable and fully included in all that PGHS has to offer, academically, socially and emotionally.

Our approach is:

  • Individualised: We work closely with each pupil and her family to understand her unique needs and create tailored support plans.

  • Collaborative: Class teachers work with our SENDCo and his team to ensure consistent and meaningful support.

  • Proactive: Early identification of learning needs allows us to put the right strategies in place to build resilience and independence.

Support Available

Our SEND team provides a range of support, including:

  • In-class support and differentiation

  • Small group or one-to-one interventions

  • Access arrangements for assessments

  • Regular reviews and goal-setting with parents and pupils

  • Referrals to external professionals where appropriate

We welcome open communication and encourage parents to contact us with any concerns or questions at any stage.

Building Confidence and Independence

Our goal is to help every girl become an independent, confident learner. Girls with SEND are fully involved in school life and encouraged to participate in clubs, leadership roles, and enrichment opportunities. We focus not just on academic progress, but on development, including emotional wellbeing and self-esteem.

Partnership with Parents

Parents play a vital role in supporting learning and wellbeing. We maintain open and regular communication, and families are invited to be active partners in reviewing progress, celebrating achievements, and planning next steps.
