The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide’s Independent 11-16 Secondary School of the Year, Palmers Green High School (PGHS) was founded in 1905 by Miss Alice Hum and has provided girls with an exceptional education for 120 years. At PGHS we specialise in educating girls, challenging and guiding them to achieve their full potential within our warm and friendly school environment. We are a very special ‘through-school’ where pupils progress in a familiar setting and benefit from seamless transitions across the Prep, Junior and Senior Schools. There is an authentic feeling of being one family where strong friendships are formed and extend beyond year groups.
At PGHS, all sections of the school (Preps, Juniors and Seniors) enjoy being part of our ‘one school’ community. Preps use the same facilities as the GCSE pupils in some subjects, e.g. Art, Music, PE and D&T, and Juniors enjoy Science in the laboratories. Throughout PGHS, small class sizes and excellent teaching enable rapid progress, whilst exciting extra-curricular activities encourage girls to develop into well-rounded individuals.
Recognising the importance of developing well-rounded individuals, we offer an exciting programme of extra-curricular activities. PGHS takes every opportunity to nurture your daughter’s passions and develop her skills, providing over 80 clubs per week.
This summer we are saying goodbye to senior Chemistry teacher Mrs Muneera Mayet who joined the school in autumn 2022 and senior History teacher Mr Daryl Jones who has covered Ms Govani’s maternity leave during 2024-2025. Both of them are experts in their respective fields and
pupils have been inspired by their outstanding lessons and their commitment to the school’s
extra-curricular and educational visits programme.
Also moving on to pastures new are our science technician Dr Dawsmith and teaching assistants
Miss Jessica Rosengarten and Miss Tamirah Bonnick-Caldeira. Miss Bonnick-Caldeira is going on to train as a Maths teacher and we wish her every success with her training and hope that once qualified she
might come back to PGHS to inspire our next generation of mathematicians!

Last week we said goodbye to two long-standing teachers in our Prep School.
Our Reception teaching assistant Mrs Ann Hassan started working at PGHS some 32 years ago and this year she has made the decision to retire. Mrs Hassan has given tirelessly in her role. Her humour, caring nature and creativity will be very much missed.
Miss Louise Gelsthorpe will be leaving to embark on a new adventure teaching in Cairo after ten years at PGHS. Miss Gelsthorpe started as a newly qualified teacher and and over the last ten years she has demonstrated skill, creativity and dedication every day. Her energy, thoughtfulness and humour know no bounds, and although she will be very much missed we are excited for her new adventure!

Our whole school assembly this morning ended the school year on a high. It was a wonderful celebration of achievement and talent.
Our Chamber Choir opened the assembly beautifully and we heard inspiring reflections of the past academic year from our Lower and Senior School Head Girls.
We then proudly presented a large number of awards and certificates to pupils.
House point certificates were awarded, and we celebrated a phenomenal 21,000+ House points earned across the school! A huge congratulations to the Green House who won the House Cup and to all pupils for their efforts and energy this term.
We wish all the PGHS families a wonderful summer break.

Year 2 had a brilliant time putting their teamwork to the test in a fun end-of-year challenge!
Using only rubber bands and string - no hands allowed - they had to stack cups using focus, coordination, and excellent communication skills.
They embraced the challenge and did a fantastic job!

As part of Activities Week, our amazing Year 7 to Year 10 pupils took on the Red Carpet Eco-Fashion Challenge - designing show-stopping outfits using recycled materials from home!

Our Reception girls have been captivated by the exciting stories of Supertato and Evil Pea Rules by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet.
So, they had quite the surprise when the mischievous Evil Pea broke into their classroom—not once, but twice! He stole their mini-beasts and froze them solid!
Luckily, our brilliant little heroes sprang into action and put their superpowers to the test —melting the ice, rescuing the creatures, and creating warning posters to keep Evil Pea away for good!
